Welcome to The Northside Vegan
The Northside Vegan is a plant based & vegan pop up dedicated to where our vegan journey started, The Northside of Lafayette. We also are creating partnerships to begin and maintain community gardens.  We have a small apparel line and we are currently working on a recipe eBook.
To us, veganism is all about conscious, healthy living. In our products, we stay away from things like HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) even in the buns we ensure that they are void of eggs, dairy, and honey. The food we produce is based on what we loved growing up.  We want people to be familiar with the food we are making because familiarity will allow for both vegans and non-vegans alike to enjoy our dishes.

What drove us to start a vegan business

I’ve been vegan for almost two years now and noticed that there were not a lot of adequate options in Lafayette in general.  As a school teacher, I also noticed that my children did not know about the importance of eating a well rounded, and plant based diet.  Since then, I imagined making a neighborhood restaurant called The Fightin’ville Vegan. It came with a plan to invigorate cooperative economics, food education, and food to those who couldn’t afford a meal in my neighborhood. I had no idea that my nagging dream would manifest into The Northside Vegan.   Basically, this business basically started with my passion for making a difference for my students who were part of a larger community that needed education about food and healthier food options.

Goals & Vision

According to the Researches at the University of Oxford, Veganism is the ‘single best way’ to reduce our environmental impact on Earth. They found out that cutting meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce an individual’s carbon footprint from food by up to 73%. Not only would this results in a significant drop in greenhouse gas emissions, but it would also free up wild land lost to agriculture, one of the primary causes of mass wildlife extinction.

We also strive to use 100% compostables and encourage people to bring their own containers to any of our events for packaging. We are very excited when we see them.
